Mission & Approach _ Risk Monitoring

At Nikko AM, our independent departments have a role in monitoring risk -- the Portfolio Managers themselves, the Trading Desk, the Portfolio Analysis Division and the Legal and Compliance Division. An automated trade system monitors all equity trades.

Portfolio Managers

Portfolio Managers manage portfolio risk using industry standard tools such as Barra risk models, supplemented by Nikko AM's proprietary N-Risk system, which also monitors daily risk.

Trading Desk

Nikko AM employs an automated trade system Advanced Investment Management Solution (AIMS), which was jointly developed with Quick, a major Japanese market data and information provider. AIMS checks every trade before execution against the fund's investment guidelines and our in-house compliance guidelines. Erroneous orders are automatically rejected.

Portfolio Analysis Division

The Portfolio Analysis Division monitors portfolios and investment activities, focusing on performance and risk, to provide feedback to the investment team and to ensure that the funds are managed in line with investment guidelines.

Legal and Compliance

Legal and Compliance Division ensures that we are at all times in compliance with all prevailing laws, rules, and regulations governing our asset management activities.
